These LIMITED EDITION items were made in collaboration with designer Molly Cahill of . The Solstice Collection embodies the spirit of both seasonal transitions, honoring the radiant energy of summer and the serene beauty of winter. These natural shifts prompt us to reflect on our journeys, appreciating the sun's warmth and finding comfort in moments of connection and nostalgia.
As we bask in the glow of the longest day, we celebrate the brightness of summer, slowing down to savor carefree days filled with impromptu picnics and shared memories. And as winter arrives with its quiet elegance, we embrace the stillness, cherishing the coziness of togetherness and the peace that comes with reflection. Each solstice reminds us to pause, celebrate, and find beauty in both the warmth and the cold.
Summer Solstice Earrings
The Summer Solstice Earrings are a harmonious blend of upcycled brown leather, painted gold accents, and 14k gold-filled earring hook and findings. The brown leather, repurposed from materials that would have otherwise been discarded, adds an earthy foundation. The gold ombre effect symbolizes the sun's peak during the longest day of the year. This design captures the warmth and brilliance of summer, evoking feelings of joy and vitality.
Winter Solstice Earrings
The Winter Solstice Earrings combine repurposed black leather with hand-painted silver and pearl white accents to reflect the quiet beauty of the winter evening sky. The deep leather tones provide a grounding base, while the shimmering silver, inspired by the soft glow of moonlight on the longest night of the year, adds a touch of elegance. This design captures the stillness and introspection of winter, evoking feelings of calm, reflection, and quiet strength.
Materials
All leather used in the Solstice Collection is repurposed, scrap leather that would have otherwise been discarded.
Summer Solstice Earrings feature 14k gold-filled materials. Winter Solstice Earrings feature sterling silver materials. Both ensure durability and hypoallergenic wear. All metal hardware, including findings and ear wires, is nickel-free. Gold-filled jewelry, crafted with layers of gold bonded to a core of jewelers' brass through heat and pressure, offers a luxurious look that is more affordable than pure gold. Whenever possible, our sterling silver option is made from recycled materials.
The inspiration
The name for this collection was inspired by a brainstorming session with our dedicated volunteer, Jean, and the talented Makers. The word "solstice" evokes thoughts of renewal and transition, reflecting the themes of change and new beginnings that define this collection.
The packaging
Each piece is presented on a card signed by the Maker who lovingly crafted your jewelry. Our translucent packaging bags are a sustainable alternative to plastics, made from compostable PLA and 100% biodegradable, reflecting our commitment to preserving the Earth.
